The
significance of the service rendered by Catholicate College in the field of
higher education is heightened by the fact that many hilly regions and
townships like Vadasserikkara, Seethathodu, Thannithodue and beyond have no
other institution with similar facilities to go to for advanced learning and
research. Academic programmes in the disciplines of English, Malayalam,
Hindi, Commerce and the Sciences are introduced taking into account the
social and economic needs of the society. This is vindicated by the
unmitigated rush for admission to various courses.
-
Selection of Students for Admission:- The College follows a transparent
process of admission to various PG courses in strict adherence to the norms
decided by the university. The College does not enjoy the freedom to bypass
any of the guidelines for admission, particularly those pertaining to the
reservation quota. Currently the college has a total of eleven (11) UG
courses, thirteen (13) PG courses, four (4) Diploma Courses, three (3)
Advanced diploma courses and seven (7) Certificate courses.
-
Selection
of students is made on the basis of their academic record. The national
policy on reservation as stipulated by the state government and the
university is strictly followed in the admission process.

In addition
to 20 percent seats earmarked for SC/ST students, a few seats are allotted
to physically challenged candidates and students who excel in sports. Though
no separate quota exists for girl students, more than 70 percent of the
students belong to the fair sex. In a bid to encourage healthy sports
culture, athletes and those who excel in games are offered free hostel
accommodation. Similarly, in accordance with its stated mission, the College
shows special consideration in the admission process to the underprivileged
and economically weaker sections of the society.
