Library

The Catholicate College Pathanamthitta provides excellent library facilities to teachers and students.

  • The Golden Jubilee memorial central library functions on all days of the week except Sundays between 9a.m. to 5p.m.
  • The library is spacious enough to accommodate two hundred students at a time.
  • Books are arranged subject-wise and guidelines for issue of books are printed in the College handbook.
  • Periodicals and reference books are arranged in separate sections.
  • The internet browsing facilities provided in the general library can also be availed of.
  • In addition to the general library, the departments also have their own libraries with essential books and other reading materials.
  • The restructured curriculum which encourages self learning to a great extent, has contributed to better use of the library. Use of library has become indispensable primarily on account of academic assignments and seminars each student has to perform.
  • Therefore the number of students consulting books and journals for specific purposes has registered considerable increase. This is evident especially because both PG and Science UG students are required to submit dissertations at the end of their course.
  • On an average 20-25 percent of the students and teachers visit the library every working day.

SECTIONS

The College library is divided in to three sections as follows:

 (i) Reference

(ii) General

(iii) Journal / Magazine / Periodicals
