entitled "Thermal characterisation of nanofluids using laser induced thermal
lens technique in the international conference on SPIE Nanoscience+Engineering
which will be held at San Diego, California,USA during 2-6-August 2009.

Department of Chemistry has organised a three day national seminar on Recent
trends in NMR & Mass Spectroscopy on 26-28 November 2008 at the
Dr. G Vijay nair, Raja Ramanna Fellow, Senior Associate JNCASR&
Hon. prof. CUSAT inaugurated the seminar.

Candidates joining any UG degree course can concurrently pursue this
programme in addition to their regular course. The course is designed in
such a way that a student coming out with a bachelors degree will have an
additional Certificate / Diploma /Advance Diploma in computer technology.
Certificate course is of one year duration. Those who completed the
certificate course can join the Diploma course. (One year duration). Diploma
holders can join the Advanced Diploma course (One year duration).
Last date for submitting application for PG admission

conducted
in the College at 2.PM on 10th June 2008. Adv. Sivadasan Nair M L A
inaugurated the project. Sri. Raju Narayana Swami I A S was the chief guest.
The World
Environment Day slogan for 2008 is Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon
Economy. The World Environment Day will highlight resources and initiatives
that promote low carbon economies and life-styles, such as improved energy
efficiency, alternative energy sources, forest conservation and eco-friendly
consumption. Recognising that climate change is becoming the defining issue
of our era, students celebrated world Environment Day by planting trees in
the campus to make it ecofriendly. They are planning to make a ASOKA Vanam
in the campus.
College reopened after summer vacation on 2nd June 2008. The
orientation programme for second year and third year B A , BSc and B Com students
was conducted by Fr. Brijesh Philip.
The distribution of application form for under graduate and P G courses were started
in the college office.
An important landmark in the history of the college-computerisation of the
library- is in its final stage
Four teachers, Dr. George Koshy, Prof. John Kurian, Prof Mohan S and Prof.
Kunjamma O S, were retired on 31 march 2008.

Department of English conducted Two day national seminar
The department of Physics paying tribute to Dr. Thomas Abraham, Principal
Innovative Research Inc, U S A on 18 th Jan. 2008. Dr.
Abraham has 20 years of
experience as a market researcher, starting as Director of Advanced
Materials Group at Business Communications Co. (BCC) in Norwalk, CT, and
later becoming its Vice President of Research. He is experienced both as a
materials scientist and a technical economic analyst in the field of
advanced and nano materials. Dr. Abraham has completed over 50 multi-client
market research studies in new-generation technologies and products. He has
organized 10 international conferences in High-Tech Adhesives, Fine and Nano
Powders, Nanoparticles, Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials.
Dr. Abraham was honored with Bhratvanshi Gaurav Award (Person of Indian
Origin Pride) instituted by Anthar Rashtriya Sahayog Nyas (Trust for
International Cooperation) and presented by former Vice President Bhairon
Singh Sekhawat on January 4th, 2008 in New Delhi and Pravasi Bharatiya
Samman (Overseas Indian Honor) award by President of India Pratibha Patil on
January 9th, 2008 in New Delhi.
Dr. Achamma Kurian, HOD Physics presented a research paper in the
International Conference ICIAS 2007 on 25-28 Nov. 2007 at KL Convention
centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
On 6th August 2007
Chemistry dept. held a meeting ( daltons conclave)
to
commemorate the dropping of the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city
of
Hiroshima
on August 6, 1945.

started SPIE, U S A ( International Society for Optical Engineering)

Catholicate College sends its deepest condolences to the families of the
